Dear student, The valves prevents the backward flow of blood.Valves present in heart allows the normal blood flow in only one direction. There are four valves in heart which are mitral valve, tricuspid valve, bicuspid valve and pulmonary valve. These valves controls the blood flow by opening and closing through the heart at the time of contraction.Valves are also present in the veins and absent in the arteries. Regards.
