When waste water undergoes the process of clarification in a large tank, solid wastes like faeces settle at the bottom and removed, while remaining waste material collected is known as sludge. Anaeobic bacteria decompose this sludge and  produce biogas which can be used for the generation of electricity.

Anaerobic bacteria decomposes the slude and produce both biogas which is helpful in cooking and producing electricity and manure that helps in growth of plants.
