What would be the result of heating zinc powder with calcium oxide?
Dear student
Please find the solution to the asked query:
In the electrochemical series,
Zinc lies below Calcium. Hence it is less reactive than Calcium and thus it is not able to undergo any displacement reaction when heated with Calcium oxide.
Zn + CaO No reaction.
However, when Calcium is reacted with Zinc oxide , it will displace Zinc from its oxide and form Calcium oxide and Zn
Ca + ZnO CaO + Zn
Hope this information will clear your doubts regarding the topic. If you have any other doubts please ask here on the forum and our experts will try to solve them as soon as possible,
