Who proposed "Fivekingdoms classification?"Name the five kingdoms.What was the basic of formation of these groups?

It was Robert Whittaker who proposed the five-kingdom classification in 1969. The five kingdoms are:

1. Kingdom Monera   :   Includes Prokaryotic Bacteria and Blue-Green Algae
2. Kingdom Protista   :   Includes unicellular eukaryotic organisms like protozoan, fungi and algae
3. Kingdom Fungi      :   Includes Multinucleate higher fungi
4. Kingdom Plantae    :  Includes multicellular plants and advanced algae
5. Kingdom Animalia :  Includes multicellular animals

(Note: Kingdom Protista was given by Ernst Haeckal in 1894)
