Who was Mir Bakhshi in Akbar's administration ? What was his duty

Dear student,

The head of the military department was called the mir bakshi, appointed from among the leading noble families of the court. The Mir bakshi was in charge of intelligence gathering, and also made recommendations to the emperor for military appointments and promotions.

During Mughal times, Mir Bakshi was assigned with the responsibility of military pay and accounts office. Since civil service was mainly based on Mansabdari system and all Mansabdars received their salary from Military accounts office, the post of Mir Bakshi was highly important as imperial paymaster.
