Why are adolescents advised to take more proteins in their diet than adults?

Proteins are also known as building blocks of the body. They are needed for the growth and repair of muscles and tissues, and also for the production of hormones & enzymes .
Thus it is important to include more proteins in the diet of adolescents as they experience rapid changes while they undergo rapid development. Many adolescents experience a spurt in growth and an increased appetite. They thereby need healthy foods to meet their growth needs that can be fulfilled with a protein rich diet.
