why do plants require more leaves during summer

As we know leaves are the main parts where photosynthesis takes place, trees utilize sunlight maximum for production and storage of glucose in summer by producing more leaves. Moreover in summer transpiration is also necessary which takes place by leaves. Continuous absorption of water by roots and transpiration by leaves keeps the plant cool in summer.

During summer, optimum temperature and availability of light triggers the plants to synthesize more food by the process of photosynthesis, food prepared is used for growing and storing. If the plants have more leaves, more food can be prepared, so in summer, plants acquire more leaves to produce more food.
