Jo and Jack want a different ending because they have a different perspective according to their age. Jack being an adult understands the importance of respecting one’s true identity. Through his story, he wanted his daughter to understand the importance of one’s own individuality and true self. Jo on the other hand, is a kid and loves to make friends and have fun with them. The fact that Roger skunk’s mother stopped him from making friends and having fun was simply wrong in her eyes. This is why Jo was angry at Roger skunk’s mother and wanted the wizard to hit her.
